super punched in the face

Quiet evening tonight, drinking tea and reading the comic based adventures of the Justice League. Could say its a quiet one then, which it is. Its New 52 Justice League too which I have yet to make up my mind upon. Long form storytelling aplenty that may or may not be building up for the pay-off in the long run. Things are getting super punched in the face in the name of justice at least so there's that.

Thus far I'm about eight issues into the run and it just seems kinda uninvolving for all the setup that's obviously going on. Like everyone's thinking ten issues ahead without fine tuning the current events first. Maybe that's the idea what with all the allusions to gods and so on. Maybe they are deliberately being setup as distant figures in their own way as a means of setting up more super powered throw downs in the near future. Until then I shall make do with all the over powered super hijinx as fists fly into the faces of all who oppose them.

Elsewhere Dennaton Games today favourited one of my Hotline Miami themed tweets from my platinum run back in December. Why yes it was a quiet day today why do you ask? Yeah I suppose when one starts blogging about tweets one is lacking for things to blog about. Plus its blogging about blogging and that's like the snake eating its own tail. Probably best I end it here really.

Witness the internet devour itself!

anime hair and the end of days

I've just completed a game that, in normal circumstances at least, wouldn't generally be my cup of tea. A game remastered and released in 2021 but which originally arrived in 2010 in a somewhat 'adjusted' manner shall we say?. A game I meant to get around to back then but never did and now that I have finally gotten around to both playing and completing it, I'm not entirely sure if I liked it or not. That game is Nier Replicant or to give it it's full re-released title:  Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139... because clearly the game alone wasn't baffling enough....

horror movie mania 2023

Once more we return to my favourite time of year. The air cools to a brisk chill, the leaves go red and brown in that deeply pleasing way and the evenings grow steadily darker. This year it's slightly different for me as major non-threatening life events unfolded earlier this month but amidst a flurry of recent activity I have found time to sneak in that most precious of all October past-times, the Halloween-adjacent horror movie marathon.  This year I've managed to watch more than a film or two so thought I'd give my thoughts in brief on each one. These are mostly films that have been on my to-watch list for an age with an exception or two and there may be more than one movie called Halloween as it happens, maybe even more than two. To the hot takes...

gaming archaeology

There is an art to playing old games, a   mindset even. A requisite state of mind thats required in order to play through its history. It's often said that you can't judge the past by the standards of the present and this is true to a point. Beyond that point the present can very much creep into your judgements and I think this is fine too as long as you are honest about it. The present moment can indeed cast a harsh light on the past, revered classics may not hold up even if you can still see what made them tick way back when. Such thoughts have come to mind recently as I found myself playing through the original 1987 release of Maniac Mansion .
