Battlefield 4. An utterly beautiful game but so utterly inept technically at the moment. Obviously rushed to release it is bugged up to the eyeballs with the sort of technological hiccups that really shouldn't still be there by the time it reaches the shores of release day.

It contains so many bugs its maker DICE have created their own special tracker to outline what is getting fixed and when, because there is so many bugs they have to order them by priority now. It's a game so screwed it has just lost my single player progress, again. This time I was most of the way through the so-called plot too. What is so difficult about keeping your save game intact? We have had the technology to make this not happen for years now. How have they found new and exciting ways to fuck that up?

Its a game that technically couldn't find its arse with both hands at the moment. A game that even tries to coax you into spending £40 of real money on an all-in season pass collection of map packs whilst it collapses in on itself every few minutes. A game that insults my intelligence then insults it again with the hard sell.
So yes, not too enamoured with either it nor DICE at the moment. Trying to salvage what I can from the multiplayer experience as ruthless and Call of Duty-like as it has become. Somewhere beneath all this there is a good game yearning to be played, I just can't find it yet.

It begins! You know what? I'm just going to do it. No more procrastination, no more delay, no more shifting the ranking around to accommodate the latest greatest game I've played. No it's time. completionism 2025: mega edition

BEHOLD... THE MEGA EDITION! It's time o nce again!  With no further ado b ut actually with some ado I am going to recap my personal year in gaming. The scintillating highs, the cratering lows with all points in-between and beyond spoken for as well. It's that most holy of end of year traditions and let me tell you I am both up for it and down for it simultaneously. On reflection I've somehow said the same thing twice there. Alas now's not the time to deliberate on the foibles and quirks of the English tongue! No it's the time for gaming and a super mega f-tonne of it as well! It's been a busy year for me outside of the gaming habit but yet somehow I have managed to squeeze in another fifty or so games. If the old gaming backlog I complain so much about was looking considerably lighter at the end of 2024 then it's positively slender now at the end of 2025. piledriving skeletons

I've talked about it before but Guacamelee! has to be one of the most joyful games I've played in a while. A colourful, funny utterly charming platformer where you take on skeletons as an undead luchador risen from the great thereafter to save the woman he loves. Because that's how he rolls. Seriously though this feels like a game made entirely for me. That of course raises the possibility that somewhere out there someone is tracking every move I make for the purposes of catering to my every whim, which is something that should terrify us all really.
